COLLABORATION HIGHLIGHT: 365 HOCKEY GIRL!
It only seems apropos that I'm watching the Olympic Winter games Women's Hockey right now while writing this blog post about Ava, AKA 365 Hockey Girl.
If you don't know who 365 Hockey Girl is, do you even like Women's Hockey!?
Ava gives a fun, fresh perspective on women's hockey and she isn't afraid to use her platform to teach and grow the game in unique ways. Ava not only gives you PWHL/women's hockey news, but very striking opinions all through fun video content on Instagram and TikTok.
Ava also uses her platform to educate on problematic issues in hockey culture, as well as teaching history of hockey from the lens of People of Color!
I always have a blast interacting with Ava on IG, and it was amazing to get to work on this project with her.
Our collaboration is out now and will be available through the 2025-2026 PWHL season! Shop now!
I got to ask Ava some questions about her impact on the game and within our community. Get to know our 365 Hockey Girl below!

Who is 365 Hockey Girl?
Hey y’all, I’m Ava, and my goal is to make women’s hockey as fun and accessible as possible! I think of myself as your PWHL bestie who lives in your phone. 365HockeyGirl is by a fan, for the fans!
-
Sometimes it can be hard for new fans to get into PWHL, so I try to answer questions and explain concepts for new fans.
-
Women’s sports also get substantially less coverage than men’s sports, so I make a lot of videos reacting to and talking about the games.
-
I give my own opinions of PWHL news and culture, and love to hear the opinions of others as well!

What is your hockey origin story?
I’m from Kalamazoo, Michigan, and when I tell most people that, they automatically assume that I’ve been watching hockey my whole life, but that’s not the case! I only got into hockey after moving to Seattle! In 2022, I saw an ad for the Rivalry Series (women’s hockey Team Canada vs Team USA) game at Climate Pledge Arena, and I bought tickets on a whim. That game set the attendance record at the time for a women’s hockey game in the US, with over 14,000 fans. I could tell it was a special moment, but I still wasn’t a diehard hockey fan.
On New Year’s Day, 2024, I was on a flight from Chicago back to Seattle, and they were showing the NHL Winter Classic on the airplane, which just happened to be in Seattle that year, and featured the Kraken. For some reason, I started watching it, and I was like, "Wait, this is REALLY good." When the plane landed, I googled if there was a pro women’s hockey league. Turns out, the PWHL had just started that day. I started watching PWHL games on YouTube, and the rest is history!
Why is women's hockey your niche? What does women's hockey provide you that men's hockey doesn't?
Women’s hockey is my niche because it’s what I’m passionate about. I am drawn to the characters in women’s hockey and I love watching the games. The sport is growing at an extremely fast pace, but I still feel like not enough people are talking about it. And even when people do talk about it, men’s hockey is often still the priority, or the conversation stops at the headlines instead of going in depth.
I started making PWHL content not just because I love the league, but because I truly hope my content can help create more PWHL fans.

In what ways do you think women's hockey is more progressive than men's?
What things does women's hockey still need to push the barriers with?
When I first started watching women’s hockey, I thought it was much more progressive than men’s, and in some ways it is, especially when it comes to gay representation. However, the longer I’ve been a fan, the more I’ve realized it still has a ways to go. The PWHL needs to make sure that its trans fans are respected. We also have to work on increasing diversity in women’s hockey, because most of the players are white, similar to men’s hockey. I am also very excited to see women’s sled hockey grow as a sport, and one day become part of the Paralympics!

What was your experience with this collaboration? What was your inspiration, how did it come to be?
Despite having so many queer players, women’s hockey often has to appeal to respectability politics, and people only think of women’s hockey players as being straight, white, and blonde.
That’s the joke about the PWHL Barbies being gay – despite societal expectations, PWHL players can be anything! I wanted to make PWHL merch for the fans who are a little outside the box. I wanted to make something that nobody else would make!
